VPU explained | Mark Donnigan (NETINT Technologies)
A Video Processing Unit (VPU) is a purpose-built ASIC that offloads the entire encode, decode, scale and AI overlay pipeline into dedicated silicon, driving stream density up to 10× while trimming power draw by roughly 80 percent compared with CPU/GPU farms.
In this session, NETINT will pull back the curtain on its Smart VPU architecture, showing how VPU’s replace racks of servers and change the economics, and the carbon math, of large-scale video encoding operations.
